Actress Jacqueline Mayro, seen here onstage with intense actor John Savage in the early seventies, not long before she would co-star as the woman whose kidnapping sparks the plot of LET'S GO FOR BROKE.
First published in 1968 (I was 9!), I have been writing professionally part-time for more than two decades. I have been freelancing for various authors, editors and publishers for the past three years on the behind-the-scenes tasks of writing.
In 1974 I clipped an ad from my local newspaper for a movie entitled LET'S GO FOR BROKE. Even though I never saw the film I always remembered the name of its star, Christa Helm. More than 30 years later I found that clipping and decided to track down that movie only to find out that it seemingly didn't exist and that Christa Helm had been murdered in 1977. The case was never solved. This led to my (eventually successful) efforts to find LET'S GO FOR BROKE and the ongoing efforts of myself and others to piece together the amazing life of Christa Helm.
